The city of Glendale announced on Sunday night that it has ended its agreement with the federal government to house detainees captured by ICE. The city’s online statement comes after the Los Angeles Times reported that Glendale was continuing its 2007 ICE contract and housing detainees at its city jail despite the California Values Act, which prohibits local and state municipalities from using funds and resources for immigration enforcement purposes. “After careful consideration, the City of Glendale has decided to end its agreement with U.S. Homeland Security/ICE to house federal immigration detainees,” the statement read. “This local decision reflects our core values: public safety, transparency, and community trust.” #Glendale #ICE #Immigration #ProtectImmigrants #LosAngeles #California #LA #LANews #ImmigrationCrackdown #NationalGuard #LosAngelesProtests #LAProtests #HLOG
