Feliz Cumpleaños, Dolores Huerta! The ground-breaking Mexican-American activist and labor leader was born on this day in 1930 in New Mexico. The now 95-year-old is known for being a co-founder of the National Farm Workers Association (ufwfoundation) alongside César Chávez and her many efforts in the labor and farm workers’ rights movement through her advocacy for the agricultural community. Born in Dawson, New Mexico but raised in Stockton, California, Huerta saw work in activism through her parents and soon came into her own as an activist. She was the founder of the Agricultural Workers Association (AWA) and she co-founded the Stockton chapter of the Community Service Organization (CSO). As a female activist in male-centric spaces, she has become a trailblazer for Latina leaders and one of the most recognizable names in our community.
