Mexican-American Patricia Guerrero made history in 2022 when she was sworn in as the first Latina judge of California’s Supreme Court. A daughter of Mexican immigrants, Guerrero graduated from University of California, Berkeley before earning her Juris Doctor degree from Stanford Law School in 1997. As a lawyer, she assisted in pro bono cases dealing with immigration, and fair housing laws. Guerrero has had a long career in law including her time as a member of the Advisory Board of the Immigration Justice Project and being a member of the Latino Law Students Association in college.
