Afro-Latinas making history ✨ Actress and singer Michaela Jae Rodriguez, who is of Puerto Rican and African-American descent, made history in 2022 when she earned her first career Golden Globe. This major win made her the first trans actress to be awarded to a Golden Globe. She earned her award for Best Performance in a Television Series – Drama for her breakthrough role as Blanca Evangelista in “Pose”—the FX series about New York’s ballroom culture and the queer & trans Black and Latinx communities that took part in the subculture.
