Dr. Marta Moreno Vega is an Afro-Puerto Rican writer, advocate, and artist. She is the chief editor of Women Warriors of the Afro-Latina Diaspora (Arte Publico Press) and author of The Altar of My Soul. Dr. Moreno Vega’s talent has reached different disciplines including filmmaking as director and co-producer of the documentary When the Spirits Dance Mambo: Growing Up Nuyorican in El Barrio and writing through a memoir of the same name as the film.
