Lin-Manuel Miranda’s “Hamilton: An American Musical” is one of the most successful Broadway productions and is considered groundbreaking for its intentional casting of people of color as white historical figures. The musical, which centers around the life of American Founding Father Alexander Hamilton through the American Revolution, first premiered on August 6, 2015. Now, a decade later, Miranda is celebrating the musical’s 10th anniversary with “Movies at the United Palace with Lin-Manuel Miranda,”a free screening series at the United Palace Theatre in Manhattan.
The films being shown include “Satisfied,” starring Renée Elise Goldsberry, who played Angelica Schuyler, “West Side Story” starring Afro-Latina Ariana DeBose, who played the Bullet, and “One Night in Miami,” starring Leslie Odom Jr, who played Aaron Burr. Following each film screening there will be a conversation between Miranda and the cast member featured in the film.
