Boricua playwright, actor, singer, composer, and filmmaker Lin-Manuel Miranda recently made history with his well-known Broadway musical “Hamilton: An American Musical.” The popular production, which first premiered on August 6, 2015 and won the Tony Award in 2016 for Best Musical, took in over $1,800,000 across eight performances. With this, the musical’s aggregate gross passed the $1 billion threshold, becoming the fourth Broadway production to do so and fastest to achieve this milestone in only 416 playing weeks.
Miranda was born in New York City on January 16, 1980 to parents of primarily Puerto Rican descent and first became involved in theatre while attending school.
