In a win for Latina-led stories, it was announced that the HBO original series “Like Water for Chocolate” has been renewed for a second season. The announcement was made by series producer, Mexican actress Salma Hayek Pinault, during an event in London with HBO and Max. This adaptation of the Laura Esquivel novel follows Tita de la Garza, the youngest daughter of Mama Elena who struggles with her mother’s rigidity in keeping traditions and her love for Pedro. Through the storyline’s romance and exploration of female identity, we see the beauty of magical realism unfold through Tita’s cooking. The first season of “Like Water for Chocolate” premiered last month and has had great success at a global scale, becoming the most watched Latin American content on Max worldwide. The final episode of its first season will premiere this Sunday, December 8 on Max and HBO Latino. #LikeWaterForChocolate #ComoAguaParaChocolate #LauraEsquivel #HBO #Max #Latina #LatinaLed #LatinaStories #Television ...
