Over the past couple years, Mattel has released several special edition dolls celebrating Dia De Los Muertos. This year, Barbie Collections released the 2024 Día de Muertos collection, which includes matching Barbie and Ken Día de Muertos dolls and a special edition Día de Muertos doll designed by renowned Mexican fashion designer Kris Goyri.
The Barbie and Ken Día de Muertos dolls, both created by Mattel designer Javier Maebe, wear a black ruffled gown and a black satiny suit with complimentary embroidered details and matching calavera face paint. The special edition Día de Muertos doll wears a white dress inspired by traditional Oaxaca styles and features papier-mâché cempasúchil, a woven sash at the waist in homage to Mexican weavers and artisans, and Catrina-style makeup hand-designed by Goyri.
