The film was directed by Mexican American animator and writer Jorge R. Gutierrez and produced by renowned Mexican filmmaker Guillermo Del Toro. It tells the story of Manolo Sánchez, a bullfighter who embarks on an afterlife adventure to fulfill the expectations of his family and friends on el Día De Los Muertos.
