The beloved Mexican novel and film “Like Water for Chocolate,” written in 1989 by Laura Esquivel and adapted to the screen by Alfonso Arau in 1992, is getting a new HBO original series adaptation according to a recent Warner Bros press release. To give audiences a glimpse of the series, Max released a teaser trailer showing Azul Guaita as Tita de la Garza and Andrés Baida as Pedro Múzquiz sharing lustful glances during a family dinner. Similarly to the film and original novel, the series is set during the Mexican Revolution and follows the pair of lovers as they are forbidden to be together by Tita’s family. While navigating her desires, Tita’s magical connection to cooking allows her to channel her passion into her recipes.
