We officially have an Isabel Allende Barbie! 💖 Ahead of Latinx Heritage Month, Barbie is honoring legendary Chilean-American author and feminist icon Isabel Allende with a Barbie doll in her image. The Isabel Allende doll, created as part of Mattel’s Barbie Inspiring Women Series. The prolific 82-year-old writer was born in Lima, Peru is considered the most widely read Spanish-language author in the world. Allende has more than 25 books published and is known for her powerful stories about the lives of women, historical events, and her own experiences. A fierce advocate for women’s rights, she started the Isabel Allende Foundation in 1996 which aims to support programs promoting and preserving the fundamental rights of women and children following the tragic death of her daughter, humanitarian Paula Frías Allende, in 1992.
