Trailblazing Chicana Gloria Molina is being honored in Los Angeles as August 29 is officially recognized as Gloria Molina Day. The political pioneer made history three times in the City of Angels including when she became the first Latina elected to the Los Angeles City Council. She began her career as a political activist particpating in the Chicano Moratorium as a student East Los Angeles College. Throughout her career, she championed for her community and empowered Latinas including helping to found the local chapter of Comisión Femenil, a nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of Latinas.
