This is what obsessively measured with Subject A and Subject B when they spent 2 weeks in the lab with me: 1. Flight Time - Which is the fraction of your stride spent airborne — both feet off the ground. It’s the moment between toe-off and the next ground contact. And my goal was to develop a shoe that increased flight time. Because if I did, then here’s what you’d get out of it: • Longer flight without added effort extends stride length. • Reduced braking forces on landing. • Improved running economy (less wasted energy). Yeah, you’d run faster for longer. Then i was also obsessed with… 2. Weight Ounces specifically. Because a few ounces added to every step over the course of 10,000 steps is a lot of unneeded weight. Just do the math. Anyways, so I cracked it. We developed a shoe that’s 30 grams lighter. Yeah, 30 grams. That’s big when we’re talking about daily training sessions.
