Situated on a quiet, tree-lined street in Squirrel Hill, the house at 6542 Dalzell Place used to cause passing cars to come to a screeching halt. “It happened almost daily,” said owner Channa Newman. “I’d look out the window to see cars stopped in the middle of the street and people pointing at the house. Sometimes, they were brave enough to knock on the door and ask, ‘What is this?’” It’s not an odd question for a gray brick home with a two-story, fire engine red wall protruding from the front of it — the work of a noted architect, the late Arthur Lubetz.
