In Xochimilco, Mexico, Manuel Rodriguez is on a mission to save the country’s native and endangered axolotl, a small amphibious animal that can regenerate its body parts. He shelters up to 14,000 creatures at a time at his sanctuary and also puts on a show once a year to educate children and families about the animal in his homemade axolotl costume.
