Hailing from Canoe Lake Cree First Nation, Craig McCallum spent five years as a forward for the Huskie men’s hockey team, including one year as Assistant Captain. Prior to his time with the Huskies, Craig played in the WHL from 2007-2009 for the Edmonton Oil Kings and from 2009-2010 for the Prince Albert Raiders. He also went on to play for Team Canada and as a pro overseas for the Edinburgh Capitals of the UK’s EIHL (Elite Ice Hockey League). Receiving his B.Ed. from usask, Craig taught for 2 years before being elected as 4th Vice-Chief of the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations where his mandate is to protect, promote and enhance treaty and inherent rights in the areas of justice, Indigenous veterans, economy, community, urban development and more.
