Galápagos sea lions are perfectly at home in powerful currents and among jagged rocks, chasing schools of cardinalfish — sometimes to hunt, other times for play.
The fish cluster in rocky crevices where currents bring food and cracks provide shelter. Their scarlet scales glow in the shallows, but beyond 10 meters, red light is absorbed, making them nearly invisible to most predators.
But even that doesn’t seem to stop sea lions from barreling through!
