"Space: the final frontier..." Star Trek (TOS) debuted on TV screens across the U.S. on this day in 1966 as starship Enterprise and its as crew boldly went where no one had gone before. As one of the defining science fiction series of the 20th century, Star Trek is well represented in our collection.
The studio model of starship Enterprise that was used in filming the TV show is on display at the Museum in DC. It appeared in all 79 episodes of the original series. In the same building you can see a pair of Spock ears from Leonard Nimoy's personal collection. We also have in our collection, though not on display, a filming model of a Klingon D7 Battle Cruiser.
