As a lawyer, I can tell you Mrs. Adelson’s reaction is likely due to the fact that she truly does not feel guilty for murder because she didn’t kill anyone herself. However, even though you didn’t pull the trigger you can still be convicted of murder. Under the law, when you enter into a conspiracy - that is, an agreement between two or more people to commit a crime - you’re held criminally responsible for the acts carried out in furtherance of that agreement. In a murder-for-hire case like this, even if someone else actually pulled the trigger, anyone who planned, solicited, or financed the crime can be convicted of first-degree murder through conspiracy liability.
