The Ferrari Testarossa is back.
Meet the Ferrari 849 Testarossa. It’s the SF90 replacement, sitting on the same platform and using an improved version of its predecessor’s plug-in hybrid powertrain.
Despite its retro name, the Testarossa is definitely forward-looking. With the exception of the F80 that sits atop the corporate pantheon, it is the most powerful Ferrari road car yet. Although developed from the SF90’s F154 V-8, the new car gets a redesigned block, cylinder heads and larger turbochargers featuring low-friction bearings. Peaks from the combustion side of the powertrain are now 819 hp and 621 lb-ft, that being an increase of 49 horsepower and 31 foot-pounds. A trio of electric motors—one for each of the front wheels to allow for torque vectoring, plus a third between the V-8 and eight-speed dual-clutch transmission—add up to another 216 horsepower, to produce the 1035-hp peak.
