🎉 Today we celebrate the birthday of civil rights icon Ruby Bridges! At just six years old, Ruby made history in 1960 as the first Black child to integrate an all-white elementary school in New Orleans, courageously walking past crowds of protestors to claim her right to education. Her bravery helped change the course of American history, and her impact continues to inspire generations. The National Civil Rights Museum proudly honored Ruby Bridges in 2015 with the Freedom Award for her lifelong dedication to justice and equality and since then has partnered for the Ruby Bridges Reading Festival each May. Join us in wishing Ruby a very Happy Birthday! 🎈✨ #RubyBridges #NCRMFreedomAward #CivilRights
