Finback whales can grow up to 85-89 feet long and weigh 70-80 metric tons! This one surfaced to breathe right off my bow while we were stalking big baitballs of anchovy just cruising slightly faster than idle and startled us a bit 🤣 As you've seen in a previous video, they are in our local offshore waters feeding on the same Pacific Anchovies the Bluefin are. None of us had ever been this close to an animal that made the 27' Seavee seem very small instantly. Fishing is amazing in of itself, but it has put me in situations to experience things I wouldn't have otherwise. There's so much more to appreciate in a day of fishing than just catching fish.
