“I will always have a part of my heart in Tibet.
In 1999, our Shishapangma Expedition set out with the ambitious goal of skiing the south face of the world’s 14th highest peak. Our expedition was cut short on October 5th when team members Alex Lowe and David Bridges were killed in an avalanche.
I had long known that mountains are dangerous, yet naively thought it happened to others. When disaster struck it changed my life. My best friend was gone, and we were left to pick up the pieces. The biggest change that happened was like ‘Hey, my life isn’t about me. It became: What can I do for other people?’”
