The Supreme Court just gave ICE the go-ahead to profile Latinx people based on their race or ethnicity, language, or job in a devastating 6-3 decision on Monday, September 8. The Supreme Court’s three liberal justices strongly dissented to the decision, which lifted a federal judge’s order barring agents from making stops without “reasonable suspicion. “We should not have to live in a country where the Government can seize anyone who looks Latino, speaks Spanish, and appears to work a low wage job,” Justice Sonia Sotomayor wrote in her dissent.
