On its grand opening last Friday, The Yard, a milkshake bar on Telegraph Avenue, created an atmosphere suitable to match the energy of its milkshakes topped with full-size servings of brownies, cake and cookie dough. After being open for about a week in a soft opening, The Yard had an official ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday. Complete with a live DJ and chances to win a free tote bag, the grand opening brought in a line of community members looking to enjoy a sweet treat. “We’re really so honored to have you here in our city, and I’m really glad that we could crash the party … I know that the students especially are gonna be really excited about this,” said Mayor Adena Ishii, who attended the opening along with Executive Director of the Telegraph Business Improvement District Alex Knox and District 7 Councilmember Cecilia Lunaparra.
