In Focus: Suzanne Song, ‘Recurrent’, 2025 at White Cube Mason’s Yard
Influenced by mid-20th century movements such as Op Art and Minimalism, Suzanne Song’s illusionistic compositions use line, colour and form to explore the tension between belief and perception.
In ‘Recurrent’ (2025), the artist employs a series of vertically stacked lines to different ends by introducing subtle shifts in colour, evoking rustled pleats or tilted window blinds, alternating between reflective surfaces and shadowed recesses.
These mirrored and inverted forms recur throughout Suzanne’s practice, establishing a visual rhythm that, as the artist describes, moves between ‘recognition and reinterpretation’.
‘Suzanne Song: Interfold’ is on view at White Cube Mason’s Yard until 3 October 2025.
