What is normally a peaceful mountain escape has transformed into an essential hub for firefighters working around the clock to contain the Garnet Fire. Wishon Village RV Park, a longtime destination for campers in the Sierras, sits just northeast of the fire in evacuation zone K-27. With the campground closed to the public under evacuation orders, owner Kris Oneida decided to put it to use in another way by opening its gates to the men and women on the front lines.
