If we had listened to Google, Esther and I would’ve totally missed out on what is now our favorite place in the world. ✨🐋 When we were planning this trip, everything online made it seem like Lahaina wasn’t an option for tourists after the fires—but that’s just not true. Yes, Lahaina is rebuilding. Yes, the fires were devastating. And yeah, tourism has taken a huge hit because of all the bad press. But what nobody tells you is how freaking special this place still is—and how much visiting actually helps the local community. Lahaina sits along the Au‘au Channel, aka whale paradise. Every year, humpback whales come here to mate and give birth, and you can hear them singing underwater!! From shore? You’ll see them breaching all day long, and it genuinely feels like something out of a dream. This was just a personal trip—no work, no agenda, just two girls in love watching whales and soaking it all in.
