Yes, Lahaina is rebuilding. Yes, the fires were devastating. And yeah, tourism has taken a huge hit because of all the bad press. But what nobody tells you is how freaking special this place still is—and how much visiting actually helps the local community. Lahaina sits along the Au‘au Channel, aka whale paradise. Every year, humpback whales come here to mate and give birth, and you can hear them singing underwater!! From shore?
