September 11, 2025, Dhaka, Bangladesh: The Shuvaddya canal, connected to the Buriganga River in Keraniganj, Dhaka, has been completely filled with piles of garbage and plastic waste. This area is mainly known for garment factories and small businesses. Waste produced by these establishments such as polythene, plastic packets, and other discarded materials is dumped into the canal. As a result, the canal has gradually filled up, water flow has stopped, and severe pollution has been created.
