A graphic designer turned fashion designer.
An upcycled enthusiast.
During her first job at a sportswear company, Nicole McLaughlin took discarded samples home to explore, hoping to make something new. She quickly taught herself how to craft shoes and sew her own clothes, and it became her passion: “I made my career about showing the potential of things that we no longer use.”
Her favorite canvas: denim. Nicole’s in her studio most days, dressing for style and comfort in baggy jeans. She says, “When it’s time to retire a pair of my jeans or a denim work shirt, it’s one of my favorite materials to patch, rework, or completely transform.”
