It's a rarity to see Auburn venture away from the traditional white helmets, navy jerseys, and white pants for a home game. But just how rare is this weekend's white-at-home game for the Tigers? To put it into perspective, it's only happened twice in the last 56 years - 2007 and 2008. In 2007, Auburn celebrated the 50th anniversary of the 1957 national championship team during the Vanderbilt game. They sported the white tops, grey facemasks, and removed the helmet AU decals to best represent what was worn in the championship season. The title-winning Tigers' navy jerseys didn't have sleeve stripes, while the white tops did. The next season, UT-Martin came to town for homecoming. The Skyhawks requested to wear their alternate orange jerseys on the road. Auburn agreed and would wear the white tops once again.
