China’s Ministry of Commerce announced Saturday that it will launch an anti-dumping investigation into imports of certain analog IC chips originating from the United States, effective Sept 13, 2025.
China says the U.S. has overstretched the idea of “national security,” abused export controls and long-arm jurisdiction, and deliberately suppressed China’s chip and AI industries - actions seen as violating WTO rules and harming Chinese enterprises.
The probe was requested by domestic industries and, according to MOFCOM, fully aligns with Chinese law and WTO principles. An anti-discrimination investigation into related U.S. measures on integrated circuits was also announced the same day.
Meanwhile, China and the U.S. will hold their fourth round of trade talks this year in Spain starting Sept 14, aiming to tackle urgent economic issues.
