This weekend, Auburn travels to Norman, Oklahoma for the first time to face the Oklahoma Sooners.
These two teams have met just three times previously. Last year's matchup was the first time the game wasn't played in the Sugar Bowl.
And Auburn is still looking for the program's first victory over the Sooners.
The first matchup in 1972 was played at Tulane Stadium. OU went up 31-0 in the first half, forcing Heisman Trophy winner Pat Sullivan and Company to play from behind. Sullivan finished 20-of-44 for 250 yards, 1 TD, and 1 interception. Star WR Terry Beasley was locked down, failing to record a catch in the game.
OU would win 40-22.
It would take until January 2017 for the two programs to meet again. The game started differently, with Auburn taking a 7-0 lead into the second quarter. Baker Mayfield, Joe Mixon, and Samaje Perine would take over to win 35-19 in a not-very-competitive second half.
Auburn looked to be en route to that first win last year until blowing an 11-point...
