If you are fortunate enough to get drafted in an NLL Entry Draft, what are you chances of actually playing in the big leagues? Well, since 2004, 54% of the talent taken on draft day ended up playing at least one game in the NLL. That’s 808 players out of 1,516 picks (not including ones that were later voided due to ineligibility, etc.). Of those 808, over 300 of them have played less than 20 games over their careers (and yes, that includes recent draft classes who may still get to 20 or more, but TBD). The chances of becoming a full-time NLLer who plays several seasons would easily be below 25% of a typical draft class. Most GMs expect a first or second round pick to make their team ASAP, while a third rounder or lower cracking your squad is gravy.
