In the last decade of forecasting hurricanes for the Gulf Coast, I cannot remember a “peak” of the Atlantic hurricane season this tranquil. You won’t hear me complaining. We deserve this extended slumber. Things are about to “flip” on in the eastern Atlantic with two areas being monitored by the National Hurricane Center. Invest 92L with a 90% chance of becoming Tropical Storm #Gabrielle. Something to monitor closely for the island of #Bermuda in ~7-9 days. This system likely to become the second hurricane of the season. Deeper in the eastern Atlantic, another tropical wave just emerged off the coast of Africa. Now a 20% chance of development over the next 7 days. The following name is #Humberto. No imminent concerns to the Gulf Coast.
