📣 Talking about suicide can be difficult, but we're committed to ending the stigma. Did you know, the risk of suicide is higher for health care workers compared with non–health care workers?
In support of Suicide Prevention and Awareness Month, our MedStar Health Center for Wellbeing is bringing associates together to offer education, understanding, and support. 💜
Ali Walker, a suicide loss survivor, member of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, and a physician assistant at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center, shared powerful insights on:
• Recognizing signs of suicide risk
• Reducing stigma in conversations
• Supporting patients, friends, family, and coworkers
"We can be people who inspire hope," said Ali. "We can't save the world all in one day, but we can try to do a little bit more."
