Striving to make going out affordable, Campus Burgers had a “smash” opening Friday. Located on Channing Way, Campus Burgers invited the Berkeley community to “get smashed” Friday, handing out more than 1,000 free smashburgers to attendees. Complete with balloon arches and a live DJ, customers lined up around the block waiting to receive their free burger, fries and water bottle. Known for its affordable prices and smashburgers, Campus Burgers’ Berkeley storefront marks its third location, with two more in San Jose, said cofounder Mark Angelopoulos.
