She clinched the New York State Scholastic Championship in the U/1800 section with a perfect 6-0 score and was among the top 10 Black female chess players in the U.S. Her dedication and skill earned her the prestigious Daniel Feinberg Success in Chess Award, accompanied by a $40,000 college scholarship. Fast forward to today, at 19, Jessica has shattered records by becoming the highest-rated African-American female chess player in history, achieving the National Master title with a peak rating of 2007. She’s not only a 5-time National USA Youth Team member but also made headlines by defeating Grandmasters Michael Rohde and Abhimanyu Mishra.
