History made! President Claudia Sheinbaum is now the first female president to deliver the Grito de Dolores at Mexico City’s central square. In keeping with her efforts to recognize the strides women have made, she recognized Mexican heroines Josefa Ortiz Téllez Girón, Leona Vicario, Gertrudis Bocanegra and Manuela Molina as well as the “anonymous heroines” and Indigenous women. “Long live independence!
