The roguish and charismatic Barry Sheene was born 75 years ago On This Day. 🏍️ A working-class Londoner and two-time 500cc world champion, Sheene was motorcycling's first superstar; he enjoyed a celebrity lifestyle, brought in sponsorship from outside of the industry - and fought for better rider safety. ✊ He survived two enormous, near-fatal crashes during some of motorcycling's deadliest days, eventually retiring to Australia and moving into TV commentary and presenting. 🎤
