Growing up, no one really prepared us for how complicated adulthood milestones would feel. Friends landing dream jobs, siblings getting married, peers starting families while we might still be figuring out our own next step. In those moments, it’s easy to slip into comparison or feel left behind. But the truth is: multiple realities can exist at once. You can be genuinely happy for someone else and still feel the ache of your own waiting. Both are valid. That’s why it’s so important to unlearn the habit of measuring our journey against someone else’s. Their timeline doesn’t define ours. Their joy doesn’t cancel ours out. Instead, learning to hold both truths at once frees us to show up better for ourselves and for our community. It also enables us to be vulnerable and welcome our community to show up for us.
