Remaining undefeated, the boys varsity soccer team won their third game of the season on Sept. 11. The Lancers defeated the Blue Valley High Tigers in a penalty kick shootout 6-5 in the second game of the KAMO tournament. Before the shootout, the Lancers trailed Blue Valley 1-0 until junior Justin Jones scored on a header early in the second half. Jones’s goal was followed up by another goal from senior Owen Andrews with 14 minutes left in the game. Blue Valley responded quickly, scoring a goal less than one minute later to tie the game 2-2. The score held through the end of regulation. The boys varsity soccer team’s next game is on 9/18 against Gardner Edgerton High School at 7 p.m. at Shawnee Mission Athletic Complex.
