To Our Kiteboarding and Windsports Community, For over 30 years Adventure Sports has worked tirelessly to preserve and expand water sports throughout South Florida. In the early 2000s, when kiteboarding at Matheson was shut down due to safety concerns, Adventure sports took charge, and thanks to the support of an outstanding community, we were able to safely reopen the site. Since then, we have responsibly operated for the past 20 years. It is important to note that for the past two decades, Adventure Sports has supported Matheson kiteboarding at a financial loss because we deeply believe in protecting community access to the spot. Our lease with Miami-Dade Parks, Recreation, and Open Spaces (PROS) has run its course, and the County will soon issue a new solicitation for the concession at Matheson.
