ARTIFACT IN ACTION: Bonnie Blair laced up her first pair of skates at just 4 years old.
She went on to compete in four Olympic Games, becoming the first woman to defend her gold medal in the 500-meter. After setting a world record in 1988, she won gold again in 1992 and 1994.
Her cheering section, the “Blair Bunch,” was always the loudest. And she gave them plenty to celebrate: five gold medals, one bronze, and a legacy that continues to inspire. You can find Bonnie’s speedsuit in our new Beyond the Podium exhibit, where we showcase Hall of Fame athletes.
