In the top of the third, Mexico intentionally walked Valerie Arioto to avoid her power at the plate. Ali Aguilar stepped up next and came through with a clutch single to center, giving Team USA a 2–0 lead.   During the seventh inning, Monica Abbott pitched a scoreless inning and secured a win for the United States.
