Upon personal reflection, for far too many people, recent events have been their first introduction to decolonisation and liberation. Whilst I certainly think it's better late than never, if anything, I am so hopeful for this awakening in global consciousness.
However, I find it vital to highlight that most of these struggles have been ongoing and are direct results of colonial terror. People often forget that colonisation has always been in the room with us. As such, decolonisation has to be part of how we intersectionally dismantle things.
I pray that the visibility of the liberation movements worldwide are not just being viewed as moments or waves; even when we feel fatigued, we must not stop standing up and speaking out.
All forms of oppression are intertwined, and none of us are free till we are all free.
