3 Years as an Attending Cardiologist!
Here’s 5 Takeaways for future or new attending physicians.
1. Invest early, financially and personally. Understanding money and planning ahead creates freedom, inside and outside the hospital. I enjoyed reading White Coat investor Financial Boot Camp.
2. It’s OK to ask for help. Strength shows in seeking guidance, there’s no time for ego when taking care of patients.
3. Stay current. Medicine evolves fast; committing to lifelong learning keeps patients safe and practice sharp. Read journal articles, listen to podcasts and watch educational lectures/videos.
4. Use your vacation. All of it! Rest isn’t a luxury, it’s fuel for excellent patient care, a healthy life and to prevent burnout.
5. Be vocal about your desires. You are valuable and what you want matters. I encourage you to work at places that support these wishes.
