#PeopleofJSU: “Choosing Jackson State was definitely a no-brainer… As a Jackson State legacy, both of my parents and my sister graduated from here, so the idea of being a Tiger has been embedded in me since I was born. My dad was in the Boom and my sister, Jessica, was a cheerleader. Growing up, we attended so many football games, I was able to embrace the culture and instantly knew this was where I belonged. We established the Frank, Jessica, and Kamryn Patterson Family Scholarship for biology pre-med, accounting and psychology majors from Memphis to pay homage to our hometown and subject areas. My mom also gives back to JSU as an active alumni by consistently coming back and helping organizations plan their events. My family inspires me to be the leader that I am on campus today. They were really excited when I won Miss Freshman. No one in my family served on the royal court, so I’m proud to bring something new to the legacy.
