On Dec 21st, 2023, the United Nations inaugurated its first annual World Basketball Day. The UN recognizes that basketball transcends borders, cultures, and languages. It serves as a unifying force, where people from different backgrounds can come together, break down barriers, create connections and thus contribute to peace. Through this annual celebration, the UN showcases that sports and basketball are important tools that enable its sustainable development goals.
